Why Write About Vulnerability, Emotions, and Scripture?
As Christians, we’re often taught to view emotions in one of two extremes:
1. Emotions are bad. They mislead us, tempt us toward sin, and always run counter to Scripture.
or
2. Every emotion we feel comes directly from God as a way to reveal His truth beyond Scripture.
But what if the truth lies somewhere in between? What if God gives us our emotions for a reason, yet they can also be flawed and misleading? God designed every part of us — our biology, chemistry, thoughts, and feelings — intricately woven together by His purpose. If emotions are part of the creation He called "VERY good," then they serve a purpose. However, just as the rest of creation has been altered by our sinful nature, so too can our emotions be distorted or misdirected.
We’re not engaged in only and merely a "flesh vs. spirit" battle, as many of us were raised to believe. Instead, we are holistic beings. Our biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions are all interconnected, all created by God, and all affected by sin. None of these aspects of who we are is inherently evil, but each one has been impacted by the brokenness of a fallen world.
So, how do we navigate the delicate balance between allowing emotions to make us aware without letting them take control? The answer lies in Scripture. God’s Word is unchanging, steadfast, and our ultimate guide. Scripture helps us discern when to listen to our emotions and when to surrender control back to Him, who is sovereign over all things — including how we feel.
Author Anonymity
This blog is written anonymously.
In a world dominated by social media, personal branding, and constant noise, anonymity has almost become taboo. People often assume that writing without a name is an act of fear or cowardice. But that’s not the reason behind this space.
The choice to remain anonymous is intentional—and deeply purposeful.
First, I don’t want anyone’s reaction to these words to be shaped by who I am. It’s human nature to bring assumptions and biases to anything we read once we know the author’s identity. By removing that, the focus stays where it belongs: on the message itself.
Second, this isn’t about me. I don’t want it to become about me—through pride, attention, or criticism. This space exists for reflection, honesty, and growth. My hope is that as you read, you’ll encounter something that stirs your heart and draws you closer to Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the only name that matters here.
